Outscraper vs LeadReef: a data scraper, or a web-design lead tool?

Marcus HaleSeptember 5, 20268 min read

The details here are read from Outscraper’s own pages and ours.

Outscraper and LeadReef are not really the same kind of tool, and that is the whole comparison. Outscraper is a data scraper. It pulls business records from across the web and hands you the raw rows. LeadReef is a finished tool for one job: finding local businesses that need a new site and pitching them.

This is our page, so here is the bias up front. As a data engine Outscraper is broader and more programmable than anything we offer, and we will say where. What it does not do is judge a site, build a page, or write a pitch. That gap is the reason LeadReef exists.

Skim the table, then read why each row lands where it does.

What Outscraper actually is

Outscraper is a data extraction platform. It scrapes public business data from Maps and more than fifty other sources, from review sites to directories to marketplaces, and returns it as rows with contact details attached. You can pull it in bulk, export to CSV or Excel, or wire it straight into your own system through its API. It is built for marketers, researchers and developers who want data to work with. It is all published on their site.

Outscraper bills pay-as-you-go, with no monthly fee at all: the first 500 businesses are free, then $3 per 1,000 records up to 100,000 and $1 per 1,000 above that, invoiced postpaid only if a month exceeds the free tier. There is no monthly seat to buy before you start. The details are on their pricing.

Where Outscraper is in another league

As a raw-data platform, Outscraper is in a different class from us. Its breadth is the headline. More than fifty sources against our three: if you want reviews, listings and marketplace data in one pull, it has them and we do not. It is programmable, with a real API and bulk exports, so a developer can feed it into any workflow. It costs little to begin, a free tier and then credits as you go, cheap for raw pulls. And it runs a referral program of its own. For raw, wide, scriptable data, Outscraper is the stronger platform, plainly.

Outscraper's pricing page: no monthly fees, no recurring billing, pay only for the individual services as much as you use them, pay-as-you-go, with tiers resetting every 30 days. A Postpaid option lets you connect a card and receive invoices, billed only if a month's usage exceeds the free tier.
Outscraper’s own pricing model. No subscription at all — the first 500 places are free, then $3 per 1,000 records, invoiced postpaid.

Why LeadReef is not a data platform

LeadReef is built for one job Outscraper does not touch: selling a web redesign. It does not just return a business record. It reads the existing site and scores the opportunity from 0 to 100, with plain problem labels. Then it builds a prototype of a better page from the business’s own reviews and photos, and drafts a cold email and an SMS. LeadReef never sends anything. You send it, so the relationship stays yours.

The finding is narrower on purpose. Outscraper pulls from fifty sources because it serves every use. Our Fisher AI searches three, tuned to one: Maps on every plan, and on Pro and Scale, Ads for businesses already paying to get found, and Open Web for failing sites in no directory. Two caveats we will state plainly. LeadReef has no public API and no bulk raw export, because it hands over finished pitches, not spreadsheets, and Recent Ads and Open Web sit on the Pro tier.

LeadReef's own pricing page: Starter $14 a month with 60 AI credits, lead finding on Maps, full client prototypes you can generate, preview and inspect, and cold email plus SMS drafts; Pro $39 a month with 250 credits, the Maps, Recent Ads and Open Web lead sources, unlimited prototypes, live publishing, custom domains and no LeadReef branding; Scale $89 a month with 600 credits, all lead sources, priority AI generation, brand-voice messaging, site code export and priority support. Pro is marked as the plan most operators pick.
LeadReef’s own pricing page. One pool of credits funds finding, building and drafting on every paid plan.

From a row to a sent pitch

Say you want cafes in Austin. Outscraper returns a clean pull: names, ratings, reviews and contacts, from many sources at once, ready to drop into your CRM through the API. That is powerful raw material. What it will not tell you is which cafe’s site is falling apart, nor build a better one, nor write the note that lands the job.

LeadReef points at the same city and flags the cafes whose sites are failing or missing, scores each one, mocks up a stronger page, and drafts the email and text to send. You edit a line and send. One tool fills a database; the other closes a sale.

Two very different price models

They bill on different logic. Outscraper is pay-as-you-go: a free tier, then a credit per record, cheap when you want volume and nothing else. LeadReef is $14 a month for 60 credits, and each credit buys a score, a prototype and a drafted pitch, not a row of data. So there is no clean dollar-for-dollar line. It is raw records by the thousand against a handful of finished pitches.

Data pipeline, or sales workflow

Pick LeadReef if you want to sell web redesigns and you want the pitch built for you. It scores the lead, builds a prototype, and drafts the cold email and SMS, for $14 a month, across three sources on Pro. It fits the freelancer or agency whose job is winning the design work, not managing data.

Pick Outscraper if you want raw business data at scale and you will build your own pipeline around it. Its breadth, its API and its pay-as-you-go pricing are made for that, and on that ground it does far more than we do.

LeadReef runs a partner program with a recurring commission, which matters if you recommend your stack to other freelancers. Outscraper pays referrers too, so both reward a referral; ours is the recurring kind. There is a partner page if that is you.

What actually separates them

Outscraper is a data engine: raw business records from fifty sources, contacts, exports and an API, billed by the record. LeadReef does one job end to end, selling web redesigns. It flags the failing-site business, scores it, builds the prototype, and writes the pitch. Outscraper hands you data to build a pipeline; LeadReef hands you a pitch to send. If what you want is raw, wide, scriptable data to power your own workflow, Outscraper is the broader platform, and that is a real strength.

How we compared

The Outscraper facts here were read from their live pages, mainly their home page, where the sources, the API and the per-record pricing are listed. We checked the source count, the export and API, the pricing model, the referral program, and that it does not score, build or draft. No Outscraper plan was bought for this. Since pricing shifts, Outscraper’s own page beats anything here if the two disagree. LeadReef’s numbers are its public pricing.

Common questions

Is LeadReef a good Outscraper alternative?

It depends what you want. Outscraper is a data scraper: raw business records from 50+ sources, contacts, CSV and an API, billed pay-as-you-go. LeadReef is purpose-built for selling web redesigns, so it scores the site, builds a prototype and drafts the cold email and SMS. They are different tools for different jobs.

Outscraper vs LeadReef: what is the real difference?

Outscraper extracts raw business data across 50+ sources and hands it to you or your CRM. It does not score leads, judge a site, build a page or write a message. LeadReef does that whole web-design workflow, across three sources (Recent Ads and Open Web on Pro), and hands you a scored lead, a prototype and a drafted pitch.

Does Outscraper build sites or write outreach?

No. It is a data platform, and building pages and drafting messages are not what it does. LeadReef builds a single-page prototype from the business’s own reviews and photos, then drafts the email and SMS to send with it.

Which is cheaper, Outscraper or LeadReef?

They bill differently. Outscraper is pay-as-you-go with a free tier, which is cheap for raw pulls; LeadReef is $14/mo and each credit produces a scored lead, a prototype and a drafted pitch. It is raw data by the record against a smaller number of finished pitches.

Should a developer use Outscraper or LeadReef?

If you want raw data to feed your own app or pipeline, Outscraper’s API and breadth fit that well. If you want to find, judge, build and pitch web redesigns without wiring a pipeline together, LeadReef is the finished tool for that one job.

You can see the score and the prototype with your own eyes, so create a free LeadReef account and take a look. It is free and carries zero credits, so finding and building need a paid plan, though nothing is billed until you run something.
